Q. How does the memory foam mattress compare with a spring mattress?
A. Innerspring beds use old-fashioned metal coils to provide support while you lay in bed. These springs are unable to mould to the unique curves of your body. When you aren't supported like you should be, you begin to develop aches and pains both in the skeletal system which results in muscular strain. These pains are what cause you to toss and turn. These disturbances prevent you from ever entering the deep sleep stages that are required for proper rest. A memory foam mattress will curve to the shape of your body through the heat sensitivity properties, hence reducing the pressure points on joints and muscles, a worthwhile investment for a proper relaxation.

Q. What exactly is memory foam?
A. Memory foam was originally developed by NASA to ease the pressure of extreme G-force during space shuttle take off. It was never used in the space program, but was subsequently used in medical applications, for example with patients suffering from pressure sores or bed-bound for a long period.

Q. My cushions are filled with fibre or feathers. Will I be able to replace them with foam?
A. So many of us get sick and tired of having to plump up, and shake their feather or fibre cushions. After all it’s hard work too! Feather or fibre cushion interiors can be successfully replaced with foam. They do need to be measured in a slightly different way to prevent the newly filled cushion from becoming too big. Cushion covers designed for loose fillings like fibre fill and feathers are cut to allow the cushions to plump up in the middle when shaken. If you are unsure about ordering from measurements it may be easier to make a template. Try the template in the chair or settee to check it will fit before sending the template to us. Or perhaps you would prefer to send the covers to us to have them fitted with foam with the correct size.
Q. If I get a foam mattress will it have to be turned over like a spring mattress ?
A. No. Memory foam mattresses do not need to be turned. However you may rotate the mattress from time to time if you wish.
Q. Does an overlay go under or over my bed sheets?
A. The overlays are designed to lie on top of your existing mattress underneath your sheet. It is advisable to air your bed for at least half an hour before you make it in the morning. This will keep it well ventilated.
Q. Why do prices vary so much in memory foam mattresses?
A. Different suppliers, retailers sell varying quality of memory foam products, check the density and thickness of the foam, this will give you an indication of the quality of the mattress.
